After crashing into the militant nation of Dogmatika, Albaz was hunted as a heretic. Saved by the compassionate Saint Ecclesia, the two became fugitives, embarking on a sprawling journey across the Abyss. From surviving the scorching Golgonda desert with the Springans and Tri-Brigade, to training alongside the noble Swordsouls and the mystical Icejades, Albaz's path is fraught with tragedy and growth. Together, he and Ecclesia must fight back against the apocalyptic machinations of the Despians, the tyrannical Bystials, and his dark reflection, Aluber the Jester of Despia, to save their world from total despair.
The competitive landscape has been redefined by the "Burst Protocol" (BPRO) expansion. Historically, "Branded" decks operated as linear Fusion strategies reliant on the resolution of Branded Fusion.
The introduction of Fallen of the White Dragon and Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon signals a shift to a "Synchro-Fusion Hybrid" playstyle. This new era prioritizes resilience against "hand traps" (like Ash Blossom) and resource recursion over fragile explosiveness. The key strategic objective is now to decouple success from the resolution of a single Spell Card.
The classic "Super Poly" on legs. Essential for Mirrorjade and board breaking, but vulnerable to normal summon disruption.
The new Level 4 DARK Dragon. It sends Fusion monsters from Extra Deck to GY as Cost to Special Summon itself, guaranteeing advantage even if negated. It counts as "Fallen of Albaz" in the deck, forcing a strict "Rule of 3" ratio split.
Level 8 Synchro. Features a "Quick-Tag" effect to banish itself and summon Albaz from Deck, dodging targetting effects like Infinite Impermanence.
The bridge. Triggers if sent to GY by Branded Fusion to revive a monster, effectively making the Fusion spell "free" in terms of card economy.

Level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster Synchro (generic: 1 Level 4 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuners). On Synchro Summon, searches any Level 4 or 8 Spellcaster whose ATK equals its DEF β bridging into Blazing Cartesia or The Iris Swordsoul. Secondary ignition effect negates a face-up card and destroys it if Ecclesia or Albaz is live in the GY.
Level 7 DARK Dragon Tuner (2500 ATK / 2000 DEF). When the opponent activates a monster effect, reveal this card + up to 5 Synchros from your Extra Deck as a Quick Effect: Special Summon itself (2+), send a revealed Synchro to GY β e.g. Golden Cloud Beast β Malong β (4+), destroy an opponent's monster (6). Locks to Synchro-only Extra Deck effects until end of next turn, a restriction this deck manages easily.

Level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster Synchro. The payoff. Quick Effect to tag out into Albaz. GY effect shuffles resources to remove non-destructible threats.
Level 4 DARK Beast. The extender. Triggers when sent to GY (e.g., by Branded Fusion) to revive a monster, bridging archetypes.
The classic engine. Fuses from the Deck. Now acts as a secondary starter or bait after the White Dragon engine is established.

Level 7 DARK Dragon Tuner. 2500 ATK / 2000 DEF. Quick Effect from hand when the opponent activates a monster effect: reveal this + up to 5 Synchros from Extra Deck. Applies effects sequentially β Special Summon itself (2+), send a revealed Synchro to GY (4+), destroy an opponent's monster (6). Locks Extra Deck to Synchros until end of next turn. Pair with Golden Cloud Beast β Malong for cascading disruption at just two reveals.
A versatile Quick-Play Spell that serves as searchable removal. It sends an "Albaz" Fusion from the Extra Deck to the GY (triggering its effect) to destroy a face-up card. It can also revive a monster if Ecclesia is on field/GY, making it an incredible utility card for both offense and defense.
Level 8 DARK Dragon Fusion (3000 ATK / 2500 DEF). Materials: Fallen of Albaz + 1 LIGHT or DARK monster + 1 Effect Monster β fuse straight through the opponent's board. While Ecclesia is on field/GY it gains 500 ATK and becomes unaffected by other cards' effects, creating a 3500 ATK "towers" most decks cannot remove. On Special Summon, shuffles up to 2 cards from any GY or banishment into the Deck β invaluable for recycling face-down banished combo pieces. Additionally, during the End Phase, if it was sent to the GY that turn, it searches 1 Dogmatika or Tri-Brigade card from the Deck, fueling the next turn's setup.
The defining bridge of the Hybrid Branded-Swordsoul strategy. Despite its "Swordsoul" name, its true power is as a search bridge across both engines. Key search targets include Blazing Cartesia (immediate Fusion plays), Incredible Ecclesia (re-entry into the Swordsoul engine), and The Iris Swordsoul (a free 2500 ATK body via self-negate). Its negation effect doubles as a going-second tool when Ecclesia or Albaz is in the GY β turning a combo piece into board interaction.
The deck's new hand trap and extender. Fydraulis enables a "turn-zero" play against virtually any board that activates a monster effect β by revealing itself and Synchros from the Extra Deck, it Special Summons itself for free, sends Golden Cloud Beast β Malong or Enigmaster Packbit to the GY for cascading disruption, and can destroy a monster at six reveals. The Synchro-only lock it imposes is almost irrelevant here: this hybrid deck runs almost exclusively Level 8 Synchros as its Extra Deck payoffs, so the restriction costs nothing. Searchable via Bystial Magnamhut and many Dragon searchers.
The "Fallen of Albaz" series, or "Branded," has long been a Fusion-centric powerhouse. Its core strategy revolved around Branded Fusion to establish board presence via Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon.
This classic playstyle focuses on pure Fusion summoning, utilizing Despia monsters to maximize consistency and Guardian Chimera for explosive interruption. It is defined by a singular choke point: the resolution of Branded Fusion.
At the heart of the entire saga is Fallen of Albaz. His effect allows him to discard 1 card to Fusion Summon using himself and monsters on either field, similar to Super Polymerization.
In this classic build, his on-field effect is a secondary tool. The true strength lies in using him as material from the Deck via Branded Fusion.
The premier starter. On summon, adds any "Branded" S/T.
Searches a "Despia" monster when sent to GY by card effect (e.g., by Branded Fusion).
An in-hand Fusion enabler. Provides access to Granguignol.
